Don't worry, we're still open for all you hardy campers, and for you glampers, Toad's Hut is available and equipped with a toasty, log burning stove to keep you cosy on those chilly nights.

Embrace mother nature at Toad Abode, a secluded camping spot set on the Hertfordshire Way and running parallel to the River Ash.

Toad Abode is a truly back to basics, off-grid campsite. Pitch your tent in our 0.5 acre (approx) camping paddock, set in 3.5 acres of English countryside. Our rural location and small number of pitches make us a perfect place for a peaceful, wild camping experience.
Country walks are easily achieved from here, and you can access the River Ash directly from the site if you wish to dip your toes into nature.

Nearby you can appreciate the visual arts homed at one of the UK's finest art destinations, The Henry Moore Foundation.

Explore the river, fields and hedgerows for wild food; from fruit to fungi, edible weeds and nuts, there are a variety available for picking.
​
Come along, gaze up at the stars, cosy up next to our log fires and relax in the grassy glade alongside the river.
​
Our grass pitches can accommodate one large or two small tents per pitch. Campervans are welcome, please note that due to the to the narrow entrance to Toad Abode, vehicles must be no longer than 2.75 metres and no wider than 1.9 metres. Well behaved dogs are also welcome but must be under control at all times due to livestock in the neighboring fields. Unfortunately, we do not have the facilities to accept hammocks or caravans to stay at Toad Abode at this time.
